VAT audit

VAT is a tax borne by your customers, and as a VAT-registered business you can recover it without suffering a financial loss. However, it is important to understand that VAT is a complex and constantly evolving subject. In-depth knowledge of VAT is therefore essential to grasp all its subtleties and to plan long-term transactions appropriately. It is advisable to keep up to date with the latest regulations and to consult VAT experts in order to ensure optimal tax management and avoid costly mistakes.

VAT: limit the risks!

Make sure you manage your VAT properly to avoid harmful consequences for your cash flow. Poor management can lead to adjustments by the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) that have a significant financial impact.

To avoid such situations, it is crucial to put robust processes in place for accurate VAT returns and to stay informed of regulatory developments. Working with a VAT expert is strongly recommended to support you in these steps.

By taking these preventive measures, you will reduce VAT-related risks and thus protect your cash flow. Do not hesitate to consult a VAT expert to benefit from personalised support and ensure optimal tax management.

Correction and reconciliation: how to proceed

  • Do you need to make changes to returns already submitted to the FTA? Complete a corrective return form for the period concerned before the end of your financial year.
  • At year-end: you must complete a reconciliation form and send it to the FTA.
  • Have you noticed errors in your VAT returns? You must correct your figures in your reconciliation form. If you notice other errors after submitting this form, inform the FTA as long as the tax period has not become time-barred.
  • Do you want to change your return method (net tax rate/effective) or your accounting basis (agreed/received)? You must meet the legal deadlines and make corrections as a result of the changes made.
